Spectacular 6 hours trekking in El Chalten area that will impress the most demanding hikers as it is a one direction trekking visiting trails along the Blanco River located in Estancia El Pilar to El Chalten, passing next to the Piedras Blancas Glacier, Poincenot Camp, Mount Fitz Roy and Capri Lagoon. It is an ideal tour for people with trekking experience and who are looking for a true Patagonian adventure surrounded by nature.
The tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate at 7:00 a.m. to then head to the legendary Route 40 towards Chalten. This route skirts the Argentinian Lake, crosses the Santa Cruz and La Leona Rivers and arrives, after 1 hour 15 minutes, at the Parador La Leona (almost a museum of Route 40), where you can have coffee with homemade cakes. Afterwards, you continue along the Lake Viedma, having the Andes in the background and, before reaching El Chalten, you will stop at the viewpoint of the Viedma Glacier. From here you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of the Viedma Glacier, the Andes and the flagship Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. After 3 hours on the bus and 220 km traveled, you will get to the mountain village of El Chalten.
In the city, you will have a brief description of the trekking and the guide will check clothing and physical condition of the participants, to then start a journey by vehicle through the Valle del Río de las Vueltas to Estancia El Pilar next to the Blanco River and about 15 km from Chalten. At all times you will be accompanied by a specialized mountain guide in the area.
From Estancia el Pilar the 6-hour guided trekking begins along the mountain trails next to the Blanco River in direction of El Chalten, appreciating the Piedras Blancas Glacier, Poincenot Camp and Capri Lagoon, always surrounded by the imposing Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy as framework of the adventure. The tour includes lunch in a mountain camp located in the forest and requires physical effort so it is only recommended for people in good condition and with appropriate clothing for trekking in the mountains.
At 5:00 p.m. you return to El Chalten to head back to El Calafate, where you will arrive at 8:00 p.m.
Important: in order to guarantee the departure of the tour, it is necessary to have at least 4 people in the group, which will be confirmed the day before the activity takes place.
