Calafate Night Tour is a unique experience where, accompanied by an astronomer with over 10 years of experience, you will learn about the history of astronomy, how to read the sky, take part in night photography (astrophotography), and have fun with light painting.
During the tour, the astronomer will share his knowledge of the constellations and the legends that have accompanied cultures throughout history. He will also explain how to identify different celestial bodies and how to interpret the movements of the stars. It is a unique experience that combines learning, fun and the beauty of the Patagonian sky.
Calafate Night Tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 p.m. to head to Estancia Cruz Aike, which stands out for offering privileged views of the Santa Cruz River Valley and is located at 45 km from the city of El Calafate. After dinner, you will enjoy telescope observation of the moon, planets, nebulae, star clusters and the brightest stars in the night sky.
You will visit the Patagonian steppe for 2 hours for open-sky stargazing with a telescope where an astronomer will explain about galaxies, nebulae and stars, reviewing the constellations and their mythology. The astronomer will guide you on how to look at the sky, use the telescope and learn about the Milky Way, nebulae, stars, constellations, mythology and more. You will also have fun doing astrophotography and light painting.
Finally, you will return to your hotel in El Calafate at 12:30 a.m., having enjoyed stargazing in one of the ten best skies in the world for astrotourism.
