Full day tour in which you visit the city of El Chalten departing from El Calafate. Includes stops and leisurely walks at viewpoints, lunch at a restaurant, a city tour, visits to points of interest and free time to explore the typical mountain village, always accompanied by a guide. It is ideal for those who want to visit Chalten in a relaxed way and without physical demands while marveling at spectacular views of the mountains that surround Chalten such as the iconic Mount Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre.
The tour begins when we pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate at 7:00 a.m. to, then, head towards the mythical Route 40 in the direction of Chalten. This route borders Lake Argentino, crosses the Santa Cruz and La Leona rivers, and reaches, after 1 hour 15 minutes, the old hotel route called Parador La Leona (almost a museum of the Route 40), where you can have coffee with homemade cakes.
Later, you continue bordering Lake Viedma, with the Andes Mountains in the background and, before reaching Chalten, you will make a stop at the Mount Fitz Roy viewpoint. From here you can see a beautiful view of the Andes Mountains and the emblematic Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. These towering mountains are a must-see for any visitor to Patagonia, and the tour provides ample opportunities for photography and exploring its trails. After 3 hours and 220 km journey, you will arrive at the picturesque town of El Chalten.
The first activity will be a visit to the National Park Interpretation Center and a 1-hour hike to the Condors Viewpoint. From this viewpoint you can see magnificent views of Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and the city of El Chalten. Upon descending, you will go to a restaurant in the center of Chalten where you will enjoy a home-cooked lunch. After lunch, the excursion continues visiting Chorrillo del Salto, which is a famous waterfall located a few minutes from downtown while taking a relaxed walk through the forest.
Finally, you return to El Chalten, where a guided city tour takes place through the historic center, the main square, the Chapel of the Climbers, and the waterfront and then have 30 minutes of free time to explore the city center on your own. Afterward, you will begin the return trip to El Calafate, arriving at 8:00 p.m.
