Full day tour in which you visit the city of El Chalten departing from El Calafate. It includes stops and quiet hikes to viewpoints, lunch in restaurant and free time to explore the typical mountain village, always accompanied by a guide. In this tour you will visit El Chalten in a relaxed way and without physical demands.
We will pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate at 7:00 a.m. to, then, head to the legendary Route 40 towards Chalten. This road skirts the Argentinian Lake, crosses the Santa Cruz and La Leona Rivers and arrives, after 1 hour 15 minutes, at Parador La Leona (almost a museum of Route 40). Afterwards, the tour continues bordering the Viedma Lake, with the Andes Mountains in the background and, before reaching Chalten, making a stop at the Viedma Glacier viewpoint. From here you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of the Viedma Glacier, the Andes and the flagship Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. After 3 hours and 220 km traveled on the bus, you will get to the mountain village of El Chalten.
The first activity is to visit the National Parks Visitors Center where you will have an explanation about Chalten and the famous mountains that surround it. Later, you will have a 1 hour guided hike towards the Mirador de los Condores. From this viewpoint you can see magnificent views of Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and the city of El Chalten. After descending, you will go to a restaurant in the city center where you can have homemade food for lunch. After lunch, the tour continues visiting Chorrillo del Salto (famous waterfall located a few minutes from downtown) while taking a relaxed hike through the forest.
Finally, you return to El Chalten, where you will have free time to explore on your own for 30 minutes the city center, to then take the journey back to El Calafate, arriving at 8:00 p.m.
