Self-guided trekking in El Chalten area departing from El Calafate in which you can freely hike through famous trails that start from the city of El Chalten heading towards the Mount Fitz Roy, Laguna Capri, Laguna Torre, among others. This tour is ideal for nature and postcard landscapes lovers as you visit the National Trekking Capital while hiking the main trails that offer spectacular views of the mountains that surround Chaltén.
The tour begins when we pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate at 7:00 a.m. to then head to the legendary Route 40 towards Chalten. This route skirts the Argentinian Lake, crosses the Santa Cruz and La Leona Rivers and arrives, after 1 hour 15 minutes, at the Parador La Leona (almost a museum of Route 40), where you can have coffee with homemade cakes. Afterwards, you continue along the Lake Viedma, having the Andes in the background and, before reaching El Chalten, you will stop at the viewpoint of the Viedma Glacier. From here you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic of the Viedma Glacier, the Andes and the flagship Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. After 3 hours on the bus and 220 km traveled, you will get to the mountain village of El Chalten.
The guide that accompanies you from El Calafate will offer you to visit the National Park Interpretation Center and advice you about the numerous trails and attractions in the area so that you can choose the most interesting ones to visit. You will have between 5 to 6 hours to visit different trails, viewpoints and lagoons among which are Laguna Capri, Poicenot Camp and other trails towards Laguna de los Tres or Laguna Torre.
At 5:00 p.m. you must return to El Chalten to head back to El Calafate, where you will arrive at 8:00 p.m.
During winter months, this tour is recommended only for travelers who wish to do a specific hike, who have an excellent physical condition and who are equipped with appropriate mountain clothing for low temperatures.
