Glaciar Sur Adventure is an innovative and exclusive tour that allows you to reach the Glacier Frias combining trekkings and sailings in semirigid boat rides in an almost unexplored glacier landscape in the southern area of Los Glaciares National Park. You will visit the Amphitheater of the Glaciers, which receives its name for showing glacial and moraine clues that date back to 20 thousand years ago, making it a wonder of Patagonian nature at its best.
The tour starts at 7:30 a.m. when we pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate and undertake the journey on the route that goes through the old estancias towards Lake Roca, located within Los Glaciares National Park and at 70 km from El Calafate.
In the vicinity of Estancia Nibepo Aike, you will board a semi-rigid boat to sail the South Arm of Lake Argentino while heading to the southernmost end of the lake where you will disembark.
Once ashore, you enter an unexplored site doing a privileged trek to Lake Frias. Upon arrival at this lake, you will embark again to cross to the opposite coast in a motorized zodiac boat and, finally, go on another trek, in this case towards the Grande Glacier.
You will enjoy views of a landscape valley with changing environments until you reach the Amphitheater of the Glaciers, which is a true time line of the Ice Age. There you have lunch while enjoying a Patagonian landscape surrounded by the Grande, Cubo and Dickson glaciers.
The tour includes several trekkings, totaling 6 hours and 14 km journey, with little unevenness.
After lunch in this magnificent place, you start the journey back to El Calafate along the same trekking trails and in the same boats that were used previously. You will arrive at your hotel at 7:00 p.m. approximately after having visited a very little known area of the national park and outside the traditional tourist circuit.
