Glaciar Sur Aventura is a new and exclusive excursion in which you will reach the Frías Glacier, combining trekking and boat tours in semi-rigid boats through a virtually unexplored glacial landscape in the southern area of Los Glaciares National Park. You will visit the Glaciers Amphitheater, a Patagonian natural wonder named for its glacial remains and moraines dating back 20,000 years.
The excursion begins at 7:30 a.m. when we pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate, if you have included transfer service. The tour visits the old estancia route towards Lake Roca, located within Los Glaciares National Park and at 70 km from El Calafate.
Near Estancia Nibepo Aike, you will board a semi-rigid boat to navigate the South Arm of Lake Argentino as you head to the southernmost tip of the lake, where you will disembark.
Once on land, you will enter an unexplored area on an exclusive trek to Lake Frías. Upon arrival, you will board again to cross to the opposite shore in a motorized zodiac boat and finally, embark on another trek to Glaciar Grande. The Glaciar Sur Adventure excursion includes several trekking routes totaling 6 hours and a 14-km trek with little elevation gain.
You will enjoy a scenic valley with changing environments until you reach the Glacier Amphitheater, a true timeline of the Ice Age. There, you will have lunch while enjoying a Patagonian landscape surrounded by the Grande, Cubo, and Dickson glaciers.
After lunch in this magnificent setting, you will return to El Calafate along the same trekking trails and on the same boats used on your way there. You will arrive back at your hotel at approximately 7:00 p.m. after having experienced an incredible adventure in a little-known area of the national park, off the beaten track.
