Cerro Castillo: Viewpoints and Condors is a full-day tour ideal for those who want to experience Patagonia in an active and authentic way, combining navigation, a UTV ride and a 1-hour trek in a virtually unexplored natural environment. The experience is carried out with a maximum group size of 15 people, ensuring personalized attention and a deeper connection with the surroundings.
From El Calafate, the excursion begins with a boat tour across Lake Argentino to Estancia Cerro Castillo, where the journey continues in off-road vehicles (UTVs) and along guided trails leading to landscapes of great scenic impact. The experience is completed with a Patagonian lunch and a visit to the Condorera.
If the tour is booked with transfer from El Calafate, you will be picked up at your hotel to begin the 48 km journey to Port Punta Bandera, from where the boat departs at 8:45 a.m. After approximately 30 minutes of navigation, you arrive at Bahia San Hernesto and continue by Overland vehicle to Estancia Cerro Castillo, located at 45 km from El Calafate and bordering Los Glaciares National Park.
From the estancia’s main buildings, after a snack and an informative and safety briefing, the tour continues in off-road vehicles (UTVs) for 6 people, including the guide who drives. During this part of the excursion, mountain roads between Cerro Castillo and Cerro Hobler are traversed. This route allows you to enjoy high-altitude landscapes, valleys and unique geological formations until reaching the starting point of the guided, low-difficulty trek.
The walk, through forests and wetlands, leads to the Juliet Waterfall, which offers one of the most striking settings in the area. After the trek, there is a stop at the Juliet Waterfall Refuge, where a Patagonian lunch is enjoyed, ideal for recharging energy and sharing the experience.
After lunch, the excursion continues to the Condorera, a unique viewpoint in Argentina to see condors in full flight, one of the most iconic and thrilling sights of southern Argentina.
At the end of the excursion, the return journey begins by navigating back to Port Punta Bandera, once again taking in the lake and the Patagonian landscape that accompanies the entire tour. At 5:00 p.m., arrival at Port Punta Bandera takes place, followed by the return to your hotel in El Calafate, closing a spectacular day of exploration, nature and adventure.
