Touch the Glacier with Navigation tour is an excellent alternative for those who want to approach to the Perito Moreno Glacier to touch the ice, walk in the surrounding forest and beach, navigate in front of its south face and visit the balconies in a calm way, always accompanied by a guide from Los Glaciares National Park.
If you book the tour with transfer from El Calafate, it starts when you are picked up at your hotel and begin the 78 km journey to the Perito Moreno Glacier. If the transfer is not included, you must get to Port Bajo de las Sombras, located 7 km before reaching the glacier, where you will embark and cross the Brazo Rico of Lake Argentino in a 20 minutes boat tour.
Once you cross the Brazo Rico of the lake and disembark on the opposite shore, you will go on a 30-minute walk along the beach and through the Patagonian forest until you reach the Perito Moreno, always with the view of the glacier from the front in case there is any ice fall from its walls. Upon reaching the ice, you can touch it and appreciate its intense and varied colors and shapes (it does not include walk on the ice).
After staying next to the glacier for some minutes, you return to the port through the forest and the beach. The total walk round trip is approximately 1.30 hours (1.5 km) through a natural terrain of sand and stones with some slopes and stairs. You will sail again to Port Bajo de las Sombras crossing the lake and, this time, the boat will get closer to the southern wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier so that you can appreciate it from the water.
If the tour was booked with transportation included, you will be taken to the glacier balconies located on its front, where you will have between 1 and 2 hours to visit them.
To finish the excursion, you undertake the journey back to the city of El Calafate after having visited one of the most famous glaciers in the world.
