The Calafate Kayak tour is a half-day activity in which you will visit in double kayaks the Round Bay and part of the Argentino Lake, in front of El Calafate. It is an ideal tour for those looking for a different adventure, without leaving the city, while enjoying unique views of El Calafate and its surroundings.
The excursion takes place in double kayaks, always accompanied by specialized guides, starting and ending at the same point. As there are different circuits available, the best one will be chosen according to the climatic convenience, water level, bird watching or group requirement. The tour can be done in the morning or in the afternoon and includes the transfer from your hotel.
Upon being welcomed by the guides on the shores of Lake Argentino or Round Bay, you will receive an instructive talk, the equipment and technical clothing necessary to practice the activity. Then, the tour continues with the regulation of the seats and footrest in each kayak according to each passenger, while the guides explain the correct way to enter and exit the kayak, different paddling techniques, how to turn, stability and maintenance of the course and rules of evacuation and security.
Once in the water, the kayak takes place for 1 hour and a half with permanent assistance from the guides. This navigation allows you to observe attractive and repaired bays, always with the view of El Calafate and the hills that surround it as a landscape. During the kayak, you will be told about the geography of the area, characteristics of the landscape, flora and fauna, people and a brief history of the kayak.
To finish, you will have a hot drink to, then, be transferred to your hotel.
The double touring kayaks used offer advantages in terms of safety as they are more stable boats than simple kayaks, since the paddling is done by two people, the advance is faster and they offer greater control.
Important: In order to guarantee the departure of the tour, it is necessary to have at least 2 people in the group, which will be confirmed the day before the activity takes place.
