Nibepo Aike is the only tour in which you visit a tourist estancia in El Calafate that continues practicing the traditional tasks that characterize them and for which Patagonian estancias became famous.
In case of booking the tour with transfer from El Calafate, you will picked up at 8:30 a.m. at your hotel to undertake the 55 km journey towards Nibepo Aike along the old estancias road. Currently this famous road has gravel sections and other sections that are true trails only for 4x4 vehicles. You will pass through Estancia Huyliche, Anita and Alta Vista, making stops at panoramic points that allow you to see the Andes Mountains and the Argentino and Roca lakes from unusual perspectives.
Upon arrival at Estancia Nibepo Aike, you will be welcome with tea, coffee, mate and fried cakes or homemade puddings. You will take a walk around the estancia while the guide tells the story of the first settlers of the place and the livestock exploitation of the area. Then, you will participate in sheep shearing and sheep herding activities, there will be a demonstration of creole skill carried out by gauchos and you can also hike to the shore of the lake or Cerro Cristal from where you can have an incredible panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier. You can also do a 45-minute horseriding that is optional along the shore of Lake Roca.
While you remain in Nibepo Aike, the guide will be available to tell the history of the place, the geography, the fauna and the native flora.
To finish the tour and a magnificent day in the country, you can enjoy a lunch in the quincho of the estancia that includes Patagonian lamb roast with salads and dessert. Non-alcoholic drinks and house wine are also included. There is an organic vegetarian lunch option upon request.
The visit to Nibepo Aike ends returning to El Calafate using the same road of the estancias, after having visited the only tourist estancia located within Los Glaciares National Park.
