Big Ice on Perito Moreno is a physically demanding tour, differing from Minitrekking by including a 3 hours trekk on the ice. The tour allows you to get to the center of the Perito Moreno Glacier while appreciating unique ice formations, besides doing a 4-hours hike through the forest next to the glacier.

If you include the transfer service in your booking, we will pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate at 6:45 a.m. to start the 78 km journey to the Perito Moreno Glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park. The first activity will be to visit the balconies of the glacier during 1 hour, to then, head towards Port Bajo de las Sombras from where you will sail and cross the Rich Arm of Lake Argentino. After 20 minutes sailing in front of the Perito Moreno, you will get to south shore of the lake.

When disembarking, the Big Ice itself begins with mountain guides, approaching to the Perito Moreno through a trail in the forest next to the glacier. Sometimes the trekking takes places on the moraine, which is a hill formed by glacial material. The hike in this mountain trail lasts 2 hours until you reach a spectacular viewpoint. There, you can enjoy a unique pic-nic surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty with views of the Perito Moreno Glacier. After lunch, you will attach the iron crampons to walk on the ice without slipping and you get on the Perito Moreno. Once on the glacier, you will walk on the ice for 3 hours in which you will appreciate incredible blue lakes, deep cracks, eternal sinks, and amazing caves, which will make you feel at the center of this ice mass.

After the 3 hours ice trekking, you head back to civilization taking the same forest trail that was traveled on the way to the glacier and after having done one of the most spectacular trekkings in the world.

Finishing the Big Ice, you embark again and, this time, the boat will get closer to the south wall of the Perito Moreno where you can enjoy a glass of whiskey with ice from the glacier. After this unique moment onboard, you head back to Port Bajo de las Sombras to then return to the city of El Calafate, where you will arrive at 7:00 p.m.
