The Minitrekking on Perito Moreno tour offers a unique opportunity to explore from El Calafate one of the most beautiful glaciers in the world. This exciting excursion takes you on a complete visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier by including the walk on the ice called Minitrekking, a boat tour in front of the southern wall of the glacier and the visit to the balconies, always accompanied by an expert guide.
If you book the tour with transfer from El Calafate, we will pick you up at your hotel to undertake the 78 km journey until reaching the Perito Moreno Glacier within Los Glaciares National Park. If you do not include the transfer, you must get to Port Bajo de las Sombras, located 7 km before arriving at the glacier, where you will embark to cross the Brazo Rico of Lake Argentino in a 20 minutes boat tour.
Once you cross the Brazo Rico of the lake, you will get to a refuge, where the guides organize groups of up to 20 people. From there, a walk along the shore of the lake begins, with the view of the Perito Moreno from the front and with the possibility of seeing iceslides, until reaching the glacier, where you will put on the crampons necessary to walk on the ice and that will allow you not to slip. After a talk on glaciology, the Minitrekking begins, in which you can see cracks, seracs, sinks and small lagoons. The hike is of moderate difficulty and takes place on an irregular ice surface, but firm and safe. The trekking is led by experienced guides who will provide you with all the necessary equipment and safety instructions. During the ice trekking, a glass of whiskey with ice from the glacier will be offered.
After the Minitrekking on Perito Moreno, you will return to the refuge walking along a path in the forest where you will be invited a hot drink and a souvenir will be delivered. Then, you will embark again to approach to the south wall of the glacier. Upon arriving at Port Bajo de las Sombras, you will be transported to the balconies located in the front of the glacier, from where you can have a different perspective of the landscape while you visit the famous balconies of the Perito Moreno.
Finally, you undertake the journey back to the city of El Calafate after having walked on one of the natural wonders of the world and having explored it from different views.
