This tour to Torres del Paine from El Calafate is done in Overland 4x4 trucks visiting strategic points in Torres del Paine National Park where hikes will be made that allow access to panoramic viewpoints. The tour includes low difficulty walks and minimal physical demand, being able, if the group is apt, to carry out more demanding trails since you will always be accompanied from Calafate by qualified trekking guides. This 4x4 option differs from other excursions that also visit Torres del Paine by shortening the travel time from El Calafate to Chile and thus providing a more pleasant experience for the passenger.
The tour begins when we pick you up starting at 6:45 a.m. at your hotel in Calafate to head towards Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. Crossing the Patagonian steppe from north to south, we arrive at the Cancha Carrera border crossing (3.5 hours from El Calafate), from where we begin to enjoy the beautiful south of Chile while entering the Torres del Paine National Park at noon.
Upon arrival at Laguna Amarga and, taking advantage of the potential of the 4x4 truck, the lagoon will be skirted along its sandy coasts to access the best panoramic view of Torres del Paine. There will be a stop to take a short walk and enjoy this magnificent Patagonian landscape.
Then, the tour continues to the Paine Waterfall where you will get off to picnic on the banks of the Paine River, which offers another panoramic view of the towers. Lunch is included and takes place outdoor protected by vegetation.
After lunch and after making other stops at various viewpoints such as Laguna de los Cisnes and Mirador Superior del Nordenskjold, we arrive at Salto Grande. From this waterfall, a trekking to the Cuernos del Paine viewpoint begins on the shores of Lake Nordenskjold. This hike is guided and lasts approximately 1 hour and a half. Then, you continue in 4x4 to a new viewpoint near Lake Pehoe, from where you will have one of the most famous views of Torres del Paine National Park with the Horns and the Valle del Francés in the background, framed by Lakes Pehoe and Nordenskjold.
You return to El Calafate at approximately 9:00 p.m., crossing the border again. The schedule may vary until 11:00 p.m. in case of delays related to round trip immigration procedures, mechanical breakdowns, delay of passengers boarding the bus in Chile, etc.
The journey within Torres del Paine National Park can be modified or shortened depending on road conditions and border crossing times may vary depending on traffic. Also, it is important to know that each passenger is responsible for carrying the documentation required for the border crossing.
